Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Emergency Medical Services Specialist I to join our team at the Texas Department of Aging & Disability Services. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for coordinating, planning, and evaluating emergency medical services education/training and certification activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Investigate complaints relating to EMS licensees and certificant holders, develop investigation action plans, conduct investigations, and prepare detailed summary findings reports.
  • Review and evaluate self-studies and other required documents necessary for the approval of initial and continuing EMS education programs for compliance with the EMS Act and Texas Administrative Code rules and policy.
  • Coordinate and provide license survey and ambulance inspections to comply with the EMS Act, Texas Administrative Code rules and policy.
  • Provide public hearing testimony on EMS as an EMS subject matter expert and assist local EMS entities and stakeholders with public relations and educational activities related to emergency medical services and public health.
  • Use computer systems and programs, including word processing, database, internet, and email, to input and retrieve data and compose written correspondence, memorandums, reports, and forms.
Requirements
  • Graduation from an accredited EMS education program adopted by national accrediting organizations.
  • Experience in public health work.
  • Knowledge of EMS laws and rules, office, administrative, and clerical practices, principles, and procedures, and correct business writing, grammar, word choice, sentence structure, spelling, and punctuation.
  • Ability to accurately interpret and apply public health laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures, and to maintain confidentiality of documents, materials, and information.
  • Ability to communicate and express ideas clearly and accurately, both verbally and in writing, and to meet strict deadlines and work on multiple projects with rapidly changing priorities.
Working Conditions

This position is eligible to telework (up to 5 days per week) and may serve in the DSHS or EMS Multi-Agency Coordination Center, State Operations Center, regional and/or local operations centers, joint field offices, Disaster District operations centers, or to be deployed to an affected area of the state during the response to and/or recovery from an all-hazard event.

This position may assist with a response and/or recovery effort because of their subject matter expertise and/or experience; or assist with maintaining continuity of operations.
