Position Objective: The primary goal is to guarantee that all patrons experience prompt, friendly, and precise checkout service by passionately embracing the ethos of customer-first service. This role involves managing and scheduling the responsibilities of Front End Clerks, Courtesy Clerks, Service Operations Assistants, and Service Supervisors. Additionally, it includes overseeing the completion of daily cash handling, balancing, reconciliation, and payroll documentation, while supporting store sales and the overall operational strategy.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

Advocates for the Company and Division's Legendary Customer Service initiatives to achieve or surpass Division customer service objectives. Addresses customer relations positively, ensuring effective resolution of complaints. Promotes the philosophy of personalized service.

Delivers fast, friendly, courteous, and exceptional customer service, manages customer relations, performs checkout duties, and takes on supervisory roles at cash registers when required, while engaging in suggestive selling and other sales techniques.

Acts as an overflow cashier when necessary.

Directs and oversees front end operations, including monitoring customer traffic and service levels, coordinating and implementing front end and service programs, ensuring cleanliness, safety, and the visual appeal of the Front End area, and managing inventories and ordering of Front End supplies and merchandise.

Ensures the front end is functional and presents a positive image.

Responsible for cash flow management and controls, including safe transactions, cash register tills, approving checks, rainchecks, refunds, and overseeing cash handling procedures.

Manages emergency procedures related to the scanning system, including UPC codes not on file, difficult-to-scan UPC codes, pricing errors, and system failures.


Assists in the recruitment and hiring of front end and courtesy clerks. Trains front end management, front end, and courtesy clerks, monitoring their compliance. Supervises assigned associates, making recommendations for employment status changes and disciplinary actions to the Store Director.

Accountable for cost and quality control while maintaining a constant awareness of customer and employee safety.

Enforces dress and grooming standards for all associates.

May serve as an overflow cashier. Engages in suggestive selling and other sales techniques. Controls shrinkage and prevents the sale of expired products.

Responsible for executing all job duties and responsibilities safely, accurately, and with integrity.

Other necessary and required duties as directed or needed.

Skills and Physical Requirements:

Strong communication, leadership, team-building, and interpersonal skills with the ability to maintain composure under pressure.

Ability to interact with the public and project a positive image.

May lift and maneuver objects of varying dimensions and weights up to approximately 55 lbs.

Ability to stand or walk for extended periods. Ability to move quickly.

Ability to operate and troubleshoot PCs and checkout equipment such as printers, scales, public announcement systems, scanners, and cash registers.

Knowledge of interviewing techniques, basic employment law, computer software, and the analytical ability to manage administrative details such as planning and scheduling.


Ability to supervise. Ability to analyze and gather facts for recommending disciplinary actions and making hiring decisions.

A solid understanding of Company practices and a comprehensive understanding of Front End policies and procedures, with the ability to assess and respond to business activity.


Mental alertness is essential to ensure the safe and accurate completion of work activities. Knowledge of product variety and perishability, safety and sanitation procedures, and departmental policies and procedures.

Ability to present a positive image to the public.

Exposure to potential hazards exists concerning equipment and work aids necessary to perform job duties.

Knowledge of basic mathematics and weights and measures.

Work Environment:

Working conditions consist of a temperature-controlled store environment. Occasional exposure to outdoor conditions with varying temperatures.
