Software Engineer, Motion Planning Expert

Kodiak is revolutionizing the trucking industry with its cutting-edge autonomous technology. We're seeking a highly skilled Software Engineer to join our Planning team and contribute to the development of our motion planning algorithms.
As a key member of our team, you will design and implement new approaches to help our trucks navigate challenging road conditions. Your expertise in robotics, planning, optimization, and mathematics will be instrumental in creating algorithms that enable our trucks to safely and efficiently handle complex scenarios.
Key responsibilities include:
- Designing and implementing new motion planning algorithms
- Translating desired driving behaviors into code and cost functions
- Predicting the behavior of other actors on the road
- Improving the end-to-end latency of our motion planning and prediction algorithms
- Building tools to leverage real-world logs and improve our algorithms
- Collaborating with other teams to establish interfaces and requirements
Requirements include:
- Strong background in robotics, planning, optimization, and mathematics
- Software development experience writing production-level C++
- High standards for software quality and rigor, with a testing-oriented mentality
- Good communication skills and a collaborative bent
- Proven ability to iterate quickly and work hands-on
