Quality Engineer Job Description

Peterson Power Systems, a division of Peterson Cat, is seeking a Quality Engineer to support quality management at various supplier facilities and job sites. The successful candidate will ensure the company's quality program is maintained and continuously improved.

This role is dedicated to large complex projects with a focus on 'design/build' engineering and on-site customer interaction, often with Global accounts or major engineering & construction firms serving municipalities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain and share quality documents to meet project goals.
  • Establish and enforce quality best practices.
  • Ensure equipment quality standards are upheld by working with suppliers.
  • Partner with clients and Caterpillar to evaluate supplier quality.
  • Support Sales and Operations teams in quality processes.
  • Assist Project Managers in start-up and commissioning document finalization.
  • Manage project issue logs, inspections, quality records, and final reports.
  • Conduct shop tests, site tests, and quality inspections on equipment.
  • Provide technical support on quality and commissioning to relevant parties.
  • Address customer quality requirements under the guidance of the Quality Manager.
  • Use various software platforms like CxAlloy and SharePoint in daily tasks.
  • Carry out supplier quality assessments and audits as required.
  • Perform End-Of-Line inspections on customer equipment.
  • Submit quality reports to the Quality Manager.
  • Conduct quality management system audits at suppliers on behalf of customers.
  • Travel up to 50% of the time to customer job sites, vendor and supplier locations, and internal meetings.

The ideal candidate should have a Bachelor's Degree in Business or a related field from an accredited college, along with at least five (5) years of experience in quality management in construction, or a suitable mix of education and work background. A valid driver's license and a good driving record are required.

Relevant quality certifications are a plus, such as Certified Quality Inspector, Certified Quality Technician, Certified Quality Engineer, and/or Six Sigma Green/Yellow/Black Belt.
