Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Quality Assurance Specialist to join our team at Pegasus Steel Metal Trades Inc. in Hollywood, SC. As a Quality Assurance Specialist, you will be responsible for maintaining quality standards by approving incoming materials, in-process production, and finished products.

Key Responsibilities
  • Measure and visually inspect parts to verify conformance to customer requirements
  • Approve incoming materials by confirming specifications
  • Approve in-process production by confirming specifications
  • Approve finished products by confirming specifications
  • Contribute to root cause investigations related to quality issues
  • Initiate non-conformance reports
  • Communicate required adjustments to production supervisor
  • Document inspection results by completing associated reports and logs
  • Keep measurement equipment operating by following operating instructions, verifying calibration and notifying supervisor of needed repairs
  • Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical publications
  • Assist with the implementation, interpretation, and maintenance of the ISO9001 quality assurance standards
  • Participate in internal audits as necessary
Requirements
  • Three years of quality inspection or supervision in a manufacturing environment required
  • Ability to read blueprints, tape measures, calipers, and micrometers required
  • Familiar with interpreting Geometrical Dimensioning and Tolerance preferred
  • Familiar with Virtek Laser CMM
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook
Education and Experience

Associate degree or equivalent from two year college or technical school and two years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Travel

Ability to travel out of state for training as needed.

Language Skills

Ability to read, write and understand oral and written instructions, information gathered from meters, dials, calibrated scales, visual display units. Ability to receive and understand instructions via radio or phone. Ability to summarize verbal instructions.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability

Requires analytical knowledge; ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret and enforce an extensive variety of legal and regulatory publications.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Lead Auditor Certification desired.
