Overview:

CommonSpirit Health is a leading healthcare organization that is committed to building healthy communities and advocating for those who are poor and vulnerable. As a Cash Posting Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of our financial transactions.

Responsibilities:
  • Post payments to accounts receivable and apply denials using our collection tool and policies and procedures to achieve department and hospital goals.
  • Research and resolve overpayments to ensure batches balance with remittances.
  • Post miscellaneous cash to the correct GL numbers.
  • Process contractual agreements and other adjustments on a daily basis to ensure accurate account reconciliation and resolution.
  • Maintain and facilitate communication within the business and clinical divisions.
  • Respond to inquiries in a professional and timely manner.
  • Participate in staff meetings, performance improvement activities, and committees as assigned.
  • Meet productivity standards for posting payments and denials to achieve claim resolution.
Qualifications:
  • High School graduate or equivalent.
  • Six months of clerical experience in an office setting, with hospital or clinic collection experience preferred.
  • Basic math skills to resolve accounting issues related to cash posting.
  • Basic knowledge of accounting principles, with credit accounting or accounts receivable experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of coding rules and guidelines, with the ability to interpret EOBs for acute care and ambulatory services preferred.
  • Knowledge of the 835 process to ensure accurate posting of accounts preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, with the ability to handle multiple priorities and tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to maintain acute attention to detail.
  • Basic computer literacy and proficiency in Microsoft Windows.
  • Basic proficiency with MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
  • Experience with insurance billing computer applications preferred.
  • Ability to operate a 10-key calculator by touch.
