Position Overview

Advocate Aurora Health is currently in search of a per diem Ultrasound Technologist to join our dedicated team in providing exceptional patient care.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Patient Positioning: Ensure optimal imaging quality by effectively positioning patients and selecting appropriate technical settings and equipment.
    • Ability to assist in patient transfers and immobilization for high-quality imaging.
    • Operate portable ultrasound devices as necessary for on-site procedures.
    • Collaborate with physicians to recommend technical adjustments for optimal imaging results.
  • Patient History Collection: Gather relevant patient history for each imaging procedure to support accurate radiological assessments.
    • Collect patient information to provide context for diagnostic tests.
    • Work closely with radiologists to enhance procedural outcomes.
    • Maintain positive interactions with patients and staff throughout the imaging process.
  • Safety Compliance: Adhere to established safety protocols and standards to ensure the well-being of patients and staff.
    • Maintain current CPR certification to promote patient safety.
    • Operate all imaging equipment safely in accordance with hospital policies.
    • Follow standard precautions to minimize exposure to bodily fluids.
    • Participate in safety initiatives and mandatory training sessions.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records for departmental inventory and patient statistics.
    • Ensure proper patient records are maintained and organized.
    • Prepare ultrasound rooms with necessary equipment and supplies prior to procedures.
    • Utilize hospital information systems as required.
  • Professional Development: Stay updated on advancements in ultrasound technology and techniques.
    • Provide guidance and support to fellow technologists and students in ultrasound practices.
    • Foster a respectful and compassionate environment for all patients.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 6 months of scanning experience required.
Skills and Abilities:
  • Possess a high level of technical expertise to conduct specialized ultrasound studies independently.
  • Ability to make informed diagnostic decisions during imaging procedures.
  • ARDMS registration and CPR certification are mandatory.
Physical Requirements:
  • Flexibility to work varying hours and respond to emergency situations.
  • Capability to stand for extended periods and perform patient lifting as needed.
  • Ability to operate portable ultrasound equipment and communicate effectively with patients.
