Position Overview

Advocate Aurora Health is in search of a dedicated Ultrasound Technologist for a per diem / prn role based in Hazel Crest, Illinois.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Patient Positioning: Skillfully position patients and select appropriate technical parameters and equipment to achieve high-quality scans, utilizing necessary immobilization techniques.
    • 1) Proficient in positioning, transferring, and immobilizing patients to ensure optimal examination quality.
    • 2) Capable of operating portable ultrasound devices for on-site procedures as needed.
    • 3) Collaborate with physicians to recommend optimal technical factors for procedures.
  • Patient History Collection: Gather essential patient history for each procedure to provide the radiologist with sufficient information prior to image interpretation.
    • 1) Collect patient history to ensure the radiologist has relevant information regarding the diagnostic test.
    • 2) Work closely with the radiologist to ensure the best possible outcomes for each procedure.
    • 3) Maintain positive interactions with patients and staff during daily operations.
  • Safety Compliance: Adhere to established safety standards set by accrediting organizations and the hospital to ensure the well-being of patients and staff.
    • 1) Maintain current CPR certification to enhance patient safety.
    • 2) Operate all equipment safely in accordance with hospital policies.
    • 3) Utilize standard precautions to protect against exposure to bodily fluids.
    • 4) Participate in safety initiatives and report issues through the proper channels.
    • 5) Attend mandatory training sessions and meetings.
  • Documentation and Inventory: Ensure accurate documentation for departmental records, including supply inventories and patient statistics.
    • 1) Maintain accurate patient records and prepare necessary documentation for the department.
    • 2) Prepare ultrasound rooms with required equipment and supplies before procedures.
    • 3) Operate hospital information systems as needed.
  • Professional Development: Stay updated on current ultrasound techniques and advancements in the field.
  • Instructional Support: Provide guidance and assistance to students or fellow technologists in ultrasound practices.
    • 1) Treat all patients and colleagues with respect and empathy.
    • 2) Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with hospital policies.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 6 months of scanning experience.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • • Strong technical knowledge to perform specialized ultrasound studies with minimal assistance.
  • • Ability to make diagnostic judgments during scanning and present findings to the radiologist.
  • • ARDMS Registered and CPR Certified.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to adapt to flexible hours and respond to emergency call-backs.
  • Capability to stand for extended periods and perform patient lifting as necessary.
  • Exposure to radiation and hazardous materials may occur.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with patients and staff.

This position encompasses a variety of responsibilities and may require additional duties as assigned.
