About the Role

The Sous Chef is a key member of our culinary team, responsible for the daily operations of the kitchen. As a leader, you will provide professional guidance and direction to kitchen personnel, ensuring a seamless and efficient food preparation process.

Key Responsibilities
  • Hiring and Training: Recruit and train Line Cooks and Dishwashers, under the general direction of the Director of Food and Beverage.
  • Inventory Management: Place food and supply orders to maintain optimal kitchen inventory levels.
  • Safety and Compliance: Complete and document safety audits and monthly in-service trainings to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Plate Presentation: Ensure that all dishes leaving the kitchen meet the highest standards of presentation.
  • Labor and Cost Control: Oversee kitchen labor and food costs, monitoring budget and making adjustments as needed.
  • Food Preparation: Prepare high-quality food that meets the expectations of our residents and guests.
Requirements
  • Education: High School diploma or equivalent is required; college or culinary training is preferred.
  • Leadership Experience: Previous leadership experience is preferred.
  • Certifications: Must hold a Manager's Food Handlers permit; this may be facilitated by Spectrum Retirement.
  • Communication Skills: Strong communication skills are critical, as you will need to work with residents, family members, and team members.
