Key Responsibilities:

  • Utilize expertise in digital forensics to conduct thorough examinations, ensuring the integrity of recovered digital evidence meets the Department of Justice's court admissibility standards.
  • Act as a Mid-level Digital Forensic Analyst with 5-8 years of experience, delivering comprehensive digital forensic analysis across various platforms including mobile devices, electronic storage, cloud services, and personal computers.
  • Perform forensic examinations of digital evidence by applying recognized scientific best practices for the identification, collection, analysis, and interpretation of evidence for legal purposes.
  • Employ skills to conduct detailed forensic analysis of multiple operating systems such as Android, Apple iOS/MAC, Microsoft Windows, and Linux.
  • Analyze file systems including APFS, NTFS, ExFAT, HFS/+, EXT2/3/4, and FAT/FAT32.
  • Conduct forensic assessments of system and third-party application databases.
  • Maintain proficiency in industry-standard forensic tools and software, including Magnet Axiom, Cellebrite Inseyets, PA/UFED, Oxygen Forensic Detective, EnCase, X-Ways, and Nuix.
  • Provide on-site support during search warrant executions, focusing on the identification, collection, packaging, handling, and maintaining the chain of custody for digital evidence.
  • Offer expertise in triaging mobile devices and computer systems, addressing encryption, RAM captures, signal-blocking, biometrics, and field acquisition considerations.
  • Generate detailed notes, reports, and illustrative exhibits for judicial proceedings, and provide expert witness testimony to clarify examination findings to non-technical audiences.
  • Collaborate with government and contractor leadership, forensic analysts, law enforcement, and other stakeholders to uphold forensically sound procedures in the handling and presentation of digital evidence.
  • Stay informed about advancements in digital forensics, cybersecurity, forensic law, mobile technologies, and encryption methods.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 5 years of experience as a digital forensic examiner, with a focus on both mobile and non-mobile analysis. An additional four years of experience may substitute for the degree.
  • Possession of at least one approved forensic certification, such as:
    • SANS (GCFE, or GASF)
    • IACIS (CFCE, or CMFE)
    • NCFI (BCERT, or MDE)
    • Cellebrite (CCME or CCO+CCPA)
    • OpenText (EnCE)
  • In-depth knowledge of forensic analysis of mobile device hardware, third-party applications, and various operating systems.
  • Experience in on-scene triaging and handling of electronic evidence during search and seizure operations.
  • Proficiency in using forensic software tools and mobile extraction tools.
  • Ability to write comprehensive reports that effectively communicate complex technical information to non-technical audiences.
  • U.S. citizenship and the capability to obtain necessary security clearances.

  • Additional certifications from recognized institutions, including:
    • Cyber Crime Center (CDFE, CDMC)
    • Cellebrite (CCO+CCPA)
    • X-Ways (X-PERT)
    • Oxygen Forensic Detective (OFC)
    • Magnet Forensics (MCFE)
