Child Psychiatrist Supervisor

San Mateo County Behavioral Health and Recovery Services (BHRS) is seeking a Board eligible or Board-certified full-time Supervising Child Psychiatrist to provide clinical direction for psychiatric clinical programs, participate in the overall management of division and inter-division issues, and supervise a talented, dedicated cadre of collaborative and experienced medical, nursing, professional and experienced child psychiatric professionals.
Key Responsibilities:- Direct and administer a child psychiatric program.
- Provide clinical supervision and direction to all levels of medical/professional staff, including physicians.
- Develop and monitor adherence to medical policies, procedures, and protocols.
- Provide training and supervision to psychiatric residents and other interns and students when appropriate.
- Supervise medical, professional, and technical and support staff, including selection, performance evaluation, and corrective action.
- Evaluate and treat children and adolescents in clinic, day treatment, day school, residential, juvenile justice, and other settings.
- Recommend, prescribe, and provide psychiatric management, including psychotherapy and psychosocial treatment, family therapy, group therapy, and psychopharmacological and biological assessment and treatment.
- Provide consultation, review, and guidance to other physicians in the evaluation and treatment of children and adolescents.
- Participate in quality improvement programs.
- Provide consultation and training services to non-physicians about child and adolescent cases and issues.
- Provide consultation to agencies engaged in collaborative services to treated children and adolescents.
- Consult with other medical and mental health professionals in the community when appropriate.
- Provide psychiatric consultation and/or treatment to families.
- Present psychiatric information to community groups and agencies when appropriate.
- Prepare written reports and records of medical services rendered.
- License to practice medicine or osteopathy in the State of California.
- Possession of a valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to qualify is three years of post-residency experience providing child and adolescent psychiatric care.
The position offers a competitive salary and an excellent benefits package, including County-funded malpractice insurance, retirement plans, and health benefits for retirees, reimbursement of professional dues and expenses, an additional 5% increase in salary for each qualifying Board certification up to two Boards, administrative leave time at 5 hours per pay period up to 260 hours, and a wellness program.
