Job Summary

The University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) is seeking a highly skilled Safety Specialist to join our team in the Office of Environment, Health and Safety Department. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in ensuring a safe work environment for administrative departments and facilities management. This includes but is not limited to fire and life safety, ergonomics, injury prevention, and accident investigations.

Key Responsibilities

* Monitor activities involving the use of all hazardous materials to ensure all policies and procedures are adhered to.
* Work closely with departmental staff, principal investigators, laboratory supervisors, and managers to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
* Develop and implement programs to improve health and safety for the University.
* Collaborate with the EH&S Campus Program to assist in the development of policies and procedures and review of use authorizations regarding the safe use of hazardous materials.

Requirements

* Bachelor's degree in a related area with a minimum of 3 years of prior experience working in Environment, Health and Safety field and/or equivalent experience/training.
* Thorough knowledge/understanding of specific EH&S field(s) including related laws and regulations; and general knowledge/understanding of all EH&S fields.
* Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, including political acumen and skill to communicate effectively in a diverse environment.
