Key Position Details- 0.8 FTE (64 hours per two week schedule)
- Scheduled for 8-hour day and evening shifts
- Every third weekend rotation
- Union-represented, benefit-eligible position
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) - Clinic provides support to providers in the delivery of timely, quality patient health care services in a clinic environment. Some duties may include collecting patient information and data, providing patient care, communicating with patients, and collaborating with care team members.
Individuals in this role will work in an outpatient clinic setting, providing patient care support as delegated by the provider or RN. They will administer therapies, including medications, scheduling follow-up visits, and other support unique to a specialty provider.
Responsibilities include:
- Providing patient care support as delegated by the provider or RN
- Administering therapies, including medications, scheduling follow-up visits, and other support unique to a specialty provider
- Providing patient care pre/post encounter or procedure, preventative or other health information
- Collaborating with the provider and team on improving and managing quality goals
- May start, monitor, and discontinue IVs (dependent on site needs and training)
Additional responsibilities include:
- Rooms patients, manages patient flow, and obtains adequate patient medical information/data
- Performs rooming and accurately measures patients' vital signs and other measurement/indicators as necessary and records in the medical record
- Coordinates communication of medical information and confirms information with patients when necessary and documents per practice policy and standards
- Assists patients, as necessary, to prepare for physician exam, including providing psycho-emotional support
- Assists in the collection, labeling, and processing of specimens timely/accurately
- Assists physician with procedures, including preparation of medication as required/needed
- Organizes patient flow so physician can move efficiently from one room to the next
- Provides outbound calls to patients to follow up as directed, which may include notifying patients of test results
- Accurately and completely charts information in the patient medical record
- May checkout and schedule follow-up visits with the provider or appropriate staff before patients leave
Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications- Associate's or Vocational degree from a Board of Nursing-approved LPN program
- Two years of clinic LPN experience
- Licensed Practical Nurse MN BON or Licensed Practical Nurse Wisconsin (if working in Wisconsin or interacting with Wisconsin patients remotely)
- May require both state licenses based on the services provided at the location hired
- Must meet at least one of the following requirements:
- Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association
- Current BLS certification from the American Red Cross
- Allina in-house BLS training (within 30 days of hire)
