Position Summary:

The Supply Chain Coordinator will play a pivotal role in engaging with suppliers to gather pricing and availability details for essential materials. This position involves reviewing all incoming correspondence and taking necessary actions. The coordinator will collaborate with various trades to ensure that material estimates and requisitions accurately reflect the size, type, and quantity of materials required for production efforts.

Additionally, the role requires addressing inquiries, identifying challenges, and proactively resolving issues to guarantee the delivery of high-quality products. It is crucial to review and verify that all estimates are thorough, precise, and submitted in a timely manner. The coordinator must be aware of all schedules to communicate required delivery dates to vendors effectively.

Collaboration with the Purchasing Department is essential for sharing cost and supplier information, as well as providing Request for Quote (RFQ) details to Buyers. This position necessitates regular communication with Labor Estimators, Buyers, Ship Superintendents, Craft Supervisors, and Craft Personnel, as well as frequent interactions with external material suppliers.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Interpret technical drawings, manuals, and specifications to formulate material estimates for ship repairs.
  2. Generate material estimates for new or additional work stemming from inspection reports and contract modifications.
  3. Deliver efficient and adaptable solutions to fulfill production needs.
  4. Select and evaluate vendors for procuring requested materials based on criteria such as pricing, quantity, quality, and delivery timelines.
  5. Foster and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure timely material availability and delivery.
  6. Implement processes and collaborate with suppliers on continuous improvement initiatives.
  7. Assist in assessing and sourcing suppliers alongside the purchasing team.
  8. Support supplier meetings and negotiations to meet material demands.
  9. Address supplier concerns and assess supplier performance in collaboration with the purchasing team.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to work independently with minimal supervision while managing multiple tasks effectively.
