At the American Red Cross, we are seeking a highly skilled Blood Bank Specialist to join our team. As a Blood Bank Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient collection, testing, and distribution of blood products.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform basic and advanced donor and patient tests to determine compatibility and resolve any issues that may arise.
  • Provide consultation and support to hospitals and transfusion services to ensure the safe and effective use of blood products.
  • Manage the receipt, coordination, and shipment of patient and donor blood samples, including ordering and inspecting reagents and maintaining accurate records.
  • Perform maintenance and repair of laboratory equipment and software, as well as provide training and education to staff and external customers.
Requirements:
  • MT(ASCP) or BB(ASCP) certification, or equivalent, with a bachelor's degree in biological science or chemistry, or MLT(ASCP) certification with 5 years of laboratory experience.
  • State license may be required, depending on the location.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • SBB(ASCP) certification and/or experience in a reference laboratory.
