Position Overview:


L3Harris Space and Airborne Systems is on the lookout for a highly skilled RF Systems Engineer to spearhead advanced RF/Microwave design and development initiatives. This role demands a profound understanding of RF system architecture and hardware to meet the intricate needs of our clients.

The selected candidate will play a crucial role in enhancing RF performance through comprehensive research, innovative design, thorough development, and meticulous verification. Responsibilities will include leading customer-focused programs, advancing internal research and development projects, conducting technical evaluations, crafting detailed proposals, and providing mentorship to engineering teams.

Success in this position will be driven by the effective use of a variety of sophisticated RF simulation tools and laboratory instruments, aimed at creating cutting-edge hardware solutions while upholding our commitment to excellence in design.

Key Responsibilities:
Lead intricate RF/Microwave projects encompassing research, design, development, and verification to enhance RF system architecture and hardware performance.


Possess advanced knowledge of essential RF performance characteristics of both passive and active components, including amplifiers, oscillators, attenuators, mixers, filters, splitters, couplers, phase shifters, VCOs, PLLs, etc.

Evaluate customer and program specifications to ensure alignment of RF performance requirements with internal stakeholders.


Direct Internal Research and Development (IRAD) initiatives and perform technical evaluations to guide strategic decisions for program leadership.

Generate proposals (Basis of Estimates, BOE) and RF system requirements.

Provide mentorship, guidance, and leadership to fellow engineers.

Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of 12 years of relevant experience; or a Graduate Degree with a minimum of 10 years of related experience; or in lieu of a degree, a minimum of 16 years of relevant experience.

Experience in troubleshooting RF systems at the component level.

9+ years of experience in RF Link Budget Analysis, including nonlinear effects and their remedies (intermodulation, IP3, IP2, group delay variation, and dynamic range).


9+ years of experience with S-parameters, matching networks, cascade analysis, gain budget analysis (gain, noise figure, linearity, noise power, etc.), filtering (bandwidth, types, implementations, etc.), signal analysis (Eb/No, BER vs. noise, receiver sensitivity), temperature effects, and isolation.



9+ years of experience with RF simulation and analysis tools such as ADS, HFSS, SystemVue, MATLAB, etc.

Experience utilizing RF laboratory equipment including Network Analyzers, Signal/Spectrum Analyzers, Oscilloscopes, Signal Generators, RF Power Sensors, etc.

Experience presenting to program leadership and external clients for design reviews, IRADs, trade studies, test results, etc.

Experience in schematic and PCB layout using Xpedition or Cadence.

Preferred Skills:
Experience as a team leader, guiding a group of RF engineers across various projects to enhance their professional expertise.

TS/SCI Security Clearance is preferred.

Experience in MMIC or RFIC Design.

Experience with Phased Array systems.

Experience in RF Hybrid design, integrating diverse RF components on a single substrate with precision ribbon wire interconnections.

Research industry trends to develop roadmaps that leverage the latest technologies to enhance RF system and hardware capabilities while simultaneously reducing cost, size, weight, and power.

Ability to work independently, as well as coordinate efforts with multidisciplinary engineering teams to ensure the successful development of RF systems, payloads, and assemblies.

Experience with MATLAB for data analysis.
