Job Description:

We are seeking a skilled Senior Electrical Engineer to design state-of-the-art industrial and high-tech manufacturing facilities for global leaders in technology. As a Senior Electrical Engineer at SSOE, you will have a robust foundation in electrical engineering, focusing on low to medium voltage environments.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and Development: Generate comprehensive technical project plans, specifications, drawings, and models aligned with industry standards and client requirements.
  • Electrical System Design: Design the system with items such as switchgears, transformers, and distribution panels to control and distribute power to various sections of the facility.
  • Short Circuit Calculations: Perform short circuit calculations to ascertain fault currents and specify suitable protective devices.
  • Voltage Drop Calculations: Perform precise voltage drop calculations to ensure electrical system stability and compliance with industry standards.
  • Conduit and Conductor Sizing: Determine conduit and conductor sizing, meticulously accounting for current loads and environmental variables.
  • Cable Tray Fills: Assess cable tray fills methodically to guarantee proper cable management, organization, and future scalability.
  • Redundancy and Backup Systems: Implementing redundancy and backup systems to ensure uninterrupted power supply and minimize downtime in case of power failures.
  • UPS Systems Integration: Integrate UPS systems to provide short-term power backup in case of power fluctuations or outages, ensuring continuous operation of critical equipment.
  • Code Compliance: Ensure all electrical designs strictly adhere to pertinent local, state, and national electrical codes and regulations.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Foster collaboration, communication, strategy, and support within your team, multidisciplinary groups, and inter-company teams to optimize efficiency, quality, and resource allocation.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, which qualifies for licensure in the state of practice, is required.
  • An active Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain licensure quickly is required.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit is required. Experience with other tools such as ETAP, SKM PowerTools, and/or EasyPower is a plus.
  • Thorough knowledge of electrical codes and standards (e.g., National Electric Code, NFPA, etc.).
  • Demonstrated experience performing field verifications and site walks to identify, validate, resolve, and integrate solutions into design packages. Ability to troubleshoot design problems on-site during construction.
