Job Overview:

The Special Projects Assistant plays a vital role in supporting the operations of the Habitat for Humanity-MidOhio Playhouse Project. This position involves assisting with the coordination and logistics of the Playhouse Project program, along with other special initiatives as they arise. Responsibilities include aiding in the production of playhouse kits, training volunteer leaders, and organizing build day events. The role also encompasses assisting with construction-related tasks both on-site and off-site as required.

Core Responsibilities:

Volunteer Management:

  • Support the recruitment, training, and scheduling of volunteers for the Playhouse Program and associated events.
  • Conduct on-site orientations and safety briefings for volunteers.
  • Maintain volunteer opportunity records and data within the volunteer database and Donor Perfect.

Construction Support:

  • Assist in managing the inventory of building materials and supplies for the Playhouse Program.
  • Help recruit, train, and schedule volunteers for the assembly and priming of playhouse kits.
  • Ensure adherence to processes and procedures for kit production.
  • Instruct volunteers on the proper use of tools and maintain a safe working environment.
  • Participate in hands-on construction tasks as needed, including demolition, site preparation, framing, insulation, drywall installation, flooring, roofing, finish carpentry, and landscaping.

Event Coordination:

  • Assist with venue requirements for events, including facilities management, parking, setup, teardown, and cleanup.
  • Support all aspects of event logistics, ensuring smooth operations from start to finish.

Additional Duties:

  • Help plan, schedule, and facilitate other special events and programs as necessary.
