Join Our Team as an Ambulatory Oncology Nurse Specialist

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate RN Oncology to join our team at PeaceHealth. As an ambulatory oncology nurse specialist, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care in our infusion center.

Compensation: The estimated salary for this position is $61,400 - $112,300 per year, based on experience and location.

Job Description:

  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care needs, including evaluating patients' conditions, triaging patient phone calls, counseling patients, and administering prescribed medications.
  • Coordinate scheduling of complex care, oversee timely flow of patients, and accurately report complete information for payment authorization and billing.
  • Apply specialized knowledge of chemotherapy, radiation, and other cancer therapies, requiring mixing/administering of antineoplastic medications and initiation/management of peripheral and central venous access devices.
  • Observe, record, and report patients' conditions and responses to treatment to physicians, recognizing and responding to signs/symptoms of drug reactions or other oncologic emergencies.
  • Communicate with patients' friends and family regarding chemotherapy medications, side effects, and schedule treatment calendars.
  • Document patient care in the healthcare record according to established standards.
  • Ensure own professional effectiveness through education and professional development.
  • Participate in the development of and maintain established policies, procedures, and objectives; quality improvement; safety; environmental, and infection prevention programs.

Requirements:

  • Accredited School of Nursing Required: Nursing
  • Bachelor's Degree Preferred: Bachelor of Science in Nursing
  • 3 years Required: Professional nursing experience
  • Preferred: Oncology experience
  • Required within 6 months: Chemotherapy & Biotherapy Provider
  • Required Upon Hire: Basic Life Support
  • Preferred: Oncology Certified Nurse
