Job Summary:

The House Supervisor - Clinical Operations Lead is a key member of the Hackensack Meridian Health team, responsible for overseeing the clinical and leadership functions of the Medical Center in the absence of unit managers and senior leadership. This role requires a strong leader who can demonstrate JFK values, leadership, and interpersonal skills to ensure the provision of safe and effective patient care after hours, on weekends, and on holidays.

Responsibilities:

  • Assess all departments to maintain patient flow and assure continuity of care.
  • Report pertinent information to management and administration.
  • Provide supervision of staff in the delivery of care for patients and serve as a clinical resource.
  • Assume the leadership position for Incident Command until other qualified personnel arrive on-site.
  • Respond to codes and rapid responses, deploy staff, supplies, and/or equipment as needed.
  • Ensure appropriate use of hospital resources by reviewing all patients admitted to the hospital and evaluating appropriateness of admission using approved criteria.
  • Ensure appropriate patient status (inpatient, observation, ambulatory) to assure appropriate placement and bed usage to maximize patient flow.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an approved School of Nursing. BSN or currently enrolled in a Baccalaureate Program.
  • At least 5 years recent clinical experience. Demonstrates clinical knowledge and skills. Demonstrates leadership competencies. Demonstrated ability to work independently.
  • Good basic knowledge of the nursing process, standards of care, regulatory requirements, and best practices. Maintains computer skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Provides continuity in supervision of hospital personnel and provides guidance and direction to maintain quality clinical care along with prudent fiscal management of supplies and staff.
  • Deploys staff, supplies, and/or equipment as needed.
  • Creates and maintains an environment that promotes mutual trust, acceptance, recognition, and respect.
  • Rounds on all units and departments and supervises patient care.
  • Coordinates with department heads to identify patient problems and assists in formatting effective resolution.
  • Responds to all Codes and Rapid Responses.
  • Performs clinical support (i.e., obtains medical records).
  • Keeps self and staff informed of medical/legal aspects of nursing care given in assigned areas.
  • Initiates and manages Incident Command Center until Emergency Management staff arrive.

Requirements:

  • NJ State Professional Registered Nurse License.
