Project Overview:

Bechtel is undertaking the construction of a semiconductor manufacturing facility in New Albany, Ohio. We are collaborating with the North America Building Trades Unions and suppliers to generate thousands of new employment opportunities while partnering with local educational institutions to establish training programs that will nurture the future workforce. Bechtel Manufacturing & Technology, Inc. provides engineering, procurement, and construction services for clients in the semiconductor manufacturing, electric vehicle, and data center sectors. Our global business unit is headquartered in Reston, Virginia, with teams operating in various locations including Arizona, Ohio, Texas, India, and other project sites worldwide.


Job Summary:

In this position, you will facilitate material planning and coordination for a large-scale project site. Your responsibilities will encompass the execution of the Material Management Plan and acting as a liaison between Project and Field Procurement and Construction to ensure accurate material reporting. Your contributions will guarantee that the site receives the necessary materials for work package installation.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement the Material Management Plan and coordinate the specification, identification, and quantification of materials in collaboration with Engineering and Construction during the project's initial execution phases.
  • Adhere to established guidelines to enhance the materials planning processes for essential material categories.
  • Ensure a consistent methodology for material identification and clearly defined roles among project functions to facilitate an efficient Purchase and Supply process.
  • Identify any special or potentially lengthy approval processes that may affect the timely delivery of key engineering outputs driving the materials workflow.
  • Collaborate with Engineering to pinpoint critical design documents and data from suppliers that may influence the timely issuance of other design deliverables or are required by Construction ahead of material delivery.
  • Assist Engineering in applying the project's component numbering systems as necessary, including tagged materials, bulk materials, and spares.
  • Verify that material requisitions accurately detail required pay items and specify the level of detail for material shipping and storage prior to distribution to Construction.
  • Support the identification of out-of-sequence engineering deliverables or lengthy approval processes that could impact the timely issuance of key engineering outputs.
  • Maintain a direct working relationship with Project Controls, Discipline Engineers, Supply Chain, Automation Support, and/or Construction Coordinator to ensure that construction teams receive the materials needed for project completion.
  • Monitor Engineering and Supply Chain deliverable timelines to ensure alignment with the construction schedule.


Education and Experience Requirements:

  • A bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 5-8 years of relevant experience, or 9-12 years of relevant work experience.


Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to work with minimal supervision while exercising judgment.
  • Possess problem-solving skills while adhering to defined guidelines.
  • May provide assistance to less-experienced team members.
