Physician (Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation) Specialist

As a Physician (Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation) with the Defense Health Agency Civilian Corps, you will have the opportunity to work in a dynamic and rewarding environment that combines clinical expertise with leadership skills. ResponsibilitiesAs a Board Certified Physician in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, you will be responsible for the examination, diagnosis, and rehabilitation management of patients with a wide range of conditions. Your duties will include:
- Providing full range of Physical Medicine and rehabilitation evaluations, treatments, and functional training towards maximum independence.
- Prescribing full spectrum of Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech, Neuropsychology evaluations, social work services, and serving as team leader for rehabilitation services.
- Ordering radiology, laboratory tests, and making diagnosis and prescribing/directing appropriate rehabilitation treatment, including drugs, dietary care, as indicated.
- Performing and interpreting Electrophysiology (i.e. Electromyography (EMG), Nerve conduction velocity (NCV), Repetitive Stimulation Studies (RSS), Somatosensory Evoked Potentials (SSEP)).
- Performing comprehensive pain management using Trigger point and soft tissue injections, blocks, acupuncture, rehabilitation exercise programs.
- Providing rehabilitation recommendations for patients with multiple, chronic conditions (i.e. stroke, spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury, multiple sclerosis, total joint replacement surgeries, deconditioning, etc.).
To be eligible for this position, you must meet the following qualifications:
- US Citizenship required.
- Board Certified/Eligible.
- Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy from a school in the United States or Canada approved by a recognized accrediting body in the year of the applicant's graduation.
- Candidates must have a permanent, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in a State, District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
