Paratransit, Inc. is currently seeking applications for full-time entry-level Mechanic roles to conduct maintenance and repair tasks on buses, vehicles, and other assigned equipment. The work schedule spans Monday to Friday, featuring various shifts that may commence as early as 5:00 a.m. and conclude as late as 9:00 p.m., totaling 40 hours per week. Minimum Qualifications:
- Possession of a valid California Class C Driver License
- Upon hiring, candidates must obtain a Commercial Driver License with Passenger Endorsement
- ASE Certification is preferred but not mandatory
- Tools and equipment necessary for the mechanic trade will be provided
- Must demonstrate reliability and responsibility
- Willingness to learn the fundamental operations and repair characteristics of various vehicles and equipment
Essential Skills:
- Ability to understand the operations of gasoline, diesel, and alternative fuel engines
- Familiarity with the basic methods, materials, practices, and tools used in the mechanic trade
- COVID-19 vaccination and booster are highly encouraged
- Must successfully pass a drug test
- Clean DMV record is required
- Must hold a valid California Driver License
Typical Responsibilities:
Mechanic C - Entry Level Position. Candidates should possess an ASE or School Certificate or have 1-2 years of relevant work experience. Responsibilities include performing routine or basic preventive maintenance and repair work on buses, vehicles, and other assigned equipment. Employees in this role will receive direct supervision from the maintenance operations supervisor or their designate, working within a clearly defined framework of policies and procedures. This position entails responsibility for conducting preventive maintenance inspections and repairs, as well as assisting higher-level mechanics with more complex mechanical maintenance tasks.
Compensation:
The starting salary ranges from $22.00 to $23.00 per hour, with the pay rate determined by the skill level of the hired applicant. This position offers a comprehensive benefits package, including free Kaiser medical and MetLife dental coverage for the employee, low-cost benefits for dependents, vision, chiropractic, and life insurance, along with voluntary benefits, medical and dependent daycare FSA accounts, and a 401k plan with employer contributions after two years of service. Medical and dental benefits commence on the first of the month following 30 days of employment.
