The DMC Rehabilitation Institute of Michigan is seeking a skilled Licensed Practical Nurse to join our team in a Float Pool Full Time Nights position. As a member of our patient care services team, you will provide technical, multi-skilled direct and indirect patient care activities under the supervision of a registered nurse.
Key Responsibilities- Collaborate with care team members to ensure consistency and quality of care, promoting productive employee relations among staff members.
- Perform a variety of basic patient care activities, including respiratory procedures, maintenance locomotion, and specimen collection, under the direction of a registered nurse.
- Assist the registered nurse by gathering data on patient conditions, direct patient observation, and recording oral intakes, monitoring input and output, weighing patients, and recording/charting patient information.
- Prepare and administer medications to patients per policy and procedure, observing patient response and recording unexpected reactions.
- Assist patients in activities of daily living, including feeding, bathing, toileting, and other personal hygiene regimes.
- Assist in the training/orientation of other licensed practical nurses, associates, and care team members as directed.
- Follow all departmental policies, procedures, and objectives, including continuous improvement initiatives, safety, environmental, and infection control standards.
- Demonstrate sensitivity to patient comfort and privacy, expressing interest in patient progress and maintaining confidentiality.
- Perform general clerical duties, including answering telephones and call lights, greeting patients and visitors, and maintaining departmental files.
- Perform various support service duties, including ensuring adequate stock of patient care linens and other supplies, transporting patients, specimens, and/or supplies, and cleaning patient rooms, bathrooms, and unit common areas.
- Enhance personal growth through participation in workshops, educational programs, in-service meetings, and reviewing current literature.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Graduation from a school of practical nursing.
- Completion of NAPNES course.
- Licensed as a practical nurse by the state of Michigan.
