We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Teacher to join our team at Coordinated Youth and Human Services. As a Special Education Teacher, you will provide academic and behavioral support to assigned students, while maintaining all required special education documents.
Key Responsibilities- Academic Instruction
- Develop and implement lesson plans that cater to the needs of students with special needs.
- Present lessons in a clear and logical format, using a variety of instructional materials.
- Provide efficient transitions between activities and minimize non-learning time.
- Exhibit competence in your assigned teaching area and adapt to the needs of each student.
- Reports and Forms
- Maintain accurate attendance records in our online system.
- Complete weekly progress reports, indicating regular assessment of student goals and progress.
- Participate in parent-teacher conferences and prepare student evaluation instruments.
- Review, revise, and update IEPs as needed, using our online program.
- Behavioral Management
- Establish a positive and effective rapport with all students.
- Develop a classroom management plan and display a calm, neutral demeanor when managing student behavior.
- Support students with emotional or behavioral concerns and assist them in developing social skills.
- LBS1 certification or PEL with a willingness to obtain LBS1.
- Experience working with youth with emotional, behavioral, or academic difficulties is preferred.
- Ability to work and interact with all school personnel and students in a cooperative, collaborative, and courteous manner.
- Effective organizational skills, time management, and flexibility to meet staff and students' needs.
