Job Title: Stationary Engineer

Under the general direction of the Chief Engineer II, the Stationary Engineer in the Facilities Management Division (FMD), East End Complex performs a variety of skilled work in the operation, maintenance and repair of heating, air conditioning, ventilating, lighting, power, water, water treatment, and other mechanical systems in State-owned and occupied buildings in accordance with Department of General Services (DGS) and FMD policies, procedures, and guidelines and the Excellence in Public Buildings Initiative.

Responsibilities:
  • Operate, maintain, and repair mechanical systems, including heating, air conditioning, ventilating, lighting, power, water, and water treatment systems.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as cleaning, lubricating, and replacing parts, to ensure the efficient operation of mechanical systems.
  • Respond to emergency situations, such as equipment failures or system malfunctions, to minimize downtime and ensure the safety of occupants.
  • Collaborate with other departments and stakeholders to identify and implement energy-efficient solutions and improve building operations.
  • Develop and implement maintenance schedules and procedures to ensure the optimal performance of mechanical systems.
Requirements:
  • Possession of an Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Section 608 Technician Certificate.
  • Eligibility to receive EPA Section 608 Technician Certification differential pay.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team to achieve departmental goals and objectives.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills to effectively interact with stakeholders and resolve complex issues.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities and deadlines.
