Position Overview:

As the Substation Engineering Manager at Solvenow Inc., you will play a pivotal role in overseeing and guiding a diverse team of engineers and technicians in the execution of innovative substation projects.

Key Responsibilities:

Project Leadership:

  • Direct and coordinate a multi-disciplinary team to ensure timely and quality deliverables for various substation initiatives.
  • Oversee the engineering design process, including the development of material and equipment specifications tailored to project requirements.
  • Manage project budgets, timelines, and maintain effective communication with clients and project stakeholders.
  • Engage in business development activities, fostering client relationships and supporting proposal efforts.
Execution Management:
  • Establish and manage project budgets, schedules, and quality standards across multiple engineering disciplines.
  • Review and guide engineering work, ensuring alignment with project objectives and client expectations.
  • Identify and communicate key client interests to the project team, developing strategies to address these effectively.
  • Provide support for business development initiatives and actively participate in pursuit activities.
  • Travel may be required to support field assignments and client meetings.
  • Manage project changes in collaboration with the Project Manager, ensuring alignment with client needs.
  • Adhere to the company's quality program while independently applying engineering knowledge.
  • Mentor and guide direct reports, contributing to their professional development.
Management Duties:

Supervise the work of team members, including responsibilities for hiring, performance evaluations, and compensation management.

Qualifications:

Preferred:

  • Strong communication skills with a focus on client engagement and relationship building.
  • Intermediate understanding of project development processes, including feasibility studies and conceptual design.
  • Advanced knowledge of engineering design principles and relevant standards.
  • Experience in civil/structural and electrical/control systems.
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) license is highly desirable.
  • Seven years of experience in substation facility design with a solid grasp of layout optimization and major equipment.
Minimum:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited institution.
  • At least 11 years of relevant work experience.
  • Ability to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements, including background checks and drug screening.
