As a pivotal member of the Excess Liability Claims team, you will be instrumental in overseeing and resolving claims for our organization. You will collaborate closely with your supervisor and fellow Claims Specialists to drive cases toward resolution while frequently engaging with Regional Practice Leaders and the Underwriting team. Together, your goal will be to secure optimal results for our clients by proactively managing and settling claims.

Key Responsibilities

• Overseeing assigned claims across various jurisdictions, while formulating case strategies in collaboration with Regional Practice Leaders and Claims management.

• Assessing coverage determinations from underlying carriers and evaluating the applicability of coverage to the specifics of each claim in accordance with our policy terms.

• Maintaining open lines of communication with underlying carriers and defense counsel, providing guidance and direction as necessary to safeguard the interests of the insured and our organization.

• Collaborating with internal and external legal counsel to establish and pursue effective and cost-efficient litigation strategies for claims in litigation.

• Assisting underwriters with policy drafting initiatives, as well as participating in new business and renewal discussions.

• Coordinating communications with internal and external stakeholders (e.g., underwriting, brokers, reinsurers, external vendors) to ensure the highest standard of customer service.

• Generating internal reports and ensuring reserves are established according to best practice guidelines.

• Identifying, monitoring, and reporting on emerging liability and coverage trends.

You will report to the Manager of Excess Liability Claims.

Desired Qualifications

We seek candidates who possess the following skills and abilities:

• Extensive experience in excess liability claims: Intermediate to advanced experience in managing Excess claims, particularly those with high exposure and complexity. Proven track record in negotiating and settling intricate claim files.

• Strong communication skills: Proficient in both verbal and written communication, with excellent presentation and negotiation abilities. Capable of effectively engaging with internal and external stakeholders at various levels.

• Collaborative mindset: Ability to develop productive working relationships with insured parties, brokers, claim handlers, underwriters, and legal counsel. Open to seeking input from others to achieve optimal results. Comfortable working with a virtual team.

• Ethical conduct: Committed to handling responsibilities with integrity and the highest standards of professionalism.

• Results-oriented: Proactive in approach, anticipating needs, and adept at prioritizing multiple tasks without compromising quality. Demonstrates a sense of urgency.

• Intellectual curiosity: Eager to ask questions and explore new ideas, with a focus on continuous improvement of technical skills.

• Educational background: Bachelor's degree required; JD preferred.
