Excess Casualty Claims Handler

We are seeking a highly skilled Excess Casualty Claims Handler to join our team at AXA XL. As a key member of our Claims team, you will play a critical role in managing and resolving complex claims for our Excess Casualty team.
Key Responsibilities- Manage assigned claims across multiple jurisdictions, setting case strategies in partnership with Regional Practice Leaders and Claims management.
- Obtain coverage determinations from underlying carriers and analyze applicability to claim facts under AXA XL policy terms.
- Establish and maintain close communications with underlying carriers and defense counsel, providing input and direction as warranted, to protect insured and AXA XL interests.
- Partner with internal and external counsel to set and pursue effective and cost-efficient litigation strategies for claims in litigation.
- Assist underwriters with policy drafting initiatives and new business/renewal meetings.
- Coordinate and manage communications with internal and external stakeholders to ensure highest level of customer service.
- Produce internal reporting and ensure reserves are set according to best practice guidelines.
- Identify, monitor, and report on emerging liability and coverage trends.
- Broad excess casualty claims experience: Intermediate to advanced experience managing Excess claims, managing high exposure and complex claims, and demonstrated experience negotiating and settling complex claim files.
- Excellent communication: Verbal and written communication, presentation, and negotiation skills, able to communicate and negotiate effectively with internal and external stakeholders at various levels of sophistication.
- Collaborative approach: Develop productive working relationships with insured, brokers, claim handlers, underwriters, and legal counsel, seeking input from others as needed to achieve best result possible, capable of working and collaborating with virtual team.
- Ethical: Handle responsibilities with integrity and highest standards of professionalism.
- Passion for results: Approach tasks proactively and anticipate needs, think quickly, prioritize multiple work streams without sacrificing quality, act with sense of urgency.
- Intellectual curiosity: Willing to ask questions and explore new ideas, eager to learn and focused on continuously improving technical skills.
- Education: Bachelor's degree required, JD preferred.
