Claims Adjuster II

This role is responsible for handling and settling claims for various lines of business written by Goodville Mutual Casualty Company, with a settlement authority of up to $20,000.
Key Responsibilities- Adjust and settle claims in accordance with company guidelines and the Unfair Claims Practices Act.
- Verify policy coverage for assigned claims and investigate and evaluate claims to negotiate proper settlements.
- Assign independent adjusters, appraisers, and staff Field Claims Representatives as needed.
- Pursue subrogation, salvage, and third-party liability contribution.
- Notify the Claims Supervisor or Manager of claims exceeding $20,000 in settlement authority.
- Establish proper reserves on assigned claims and report claim complaints, questionable claim submissions, and possible fraud to the Casualty Claims and SIU Supervisor or Manager.
- Attend claim seminars and participate in claim associations.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Casualty Claims and SIU Supervisor and Manager.
- High School education required.
- One to two years' Property and Casualty claims experience required.
- Knowledge of Property and Casualty insurance coverages and terms preferred.
- Ability to learn the coverages of all insurance policies written by the company required.
- Effective communication and negotiation skills required.
- Ability to work effectively with company computer systems required.
- Willingness to participate in insurance-related study courses with the goal of attaining the AIC designation preferred.
This role requires the ability to work in an office environment with moderate noise levels, remain in a stationary position, and operate a computer for most of the time. Additionally, the ability to move throughout the office to access work materials and move work materials weighing up to ten pounds daily is required.
The ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation is necessary.
