Job Responsibilities:

This role entails executing patrol duties to uphold state, county, and municipal laws, alongside traffic regulations and institutional policies, ensuring the safety of individuals across all campus locations. Candidates will undergo a comprehensive background investigation, a Physical Ability Test (PAT), and a polygraph examination prior to employment. A pre-employment drug screening and physical examination are mandatory upon job offer.

Minimum and Additional Requirements:

A high school diploma is required for this position. The ideal candidate will possess two (2) years of experience in law enforcement.

Non-Certified Officers will have a starting salary of $42,000, while Certified Officers will receive a salary commensurate with their education and experience, ranging from $50,000 to $58,393.

Preferred Qualifications:

The preferred candidate should have a solid understanding of contemporary policing methods and procedures, along with the capability to prepare reports and provide testimony in court. The ability to engage with a diverse community while delivering exceptional customer service is essential. Preference will be given to graduates of the SC Criminal Justice Academy with at least one (1) year of campus law enforcement experience, although other relevant combinations of education and experience will be considered. A valid South Carolina driver's license is required, and candidates must be at least 21 years old and able to meet the requirements for LE-1 Certification within one (1) year of employment. Familiarity with state, county, and municipal laws is preferred.
