Job Title: Director of Financial Operations for Physician Practices

Children's Healthcare of Atlanta is seeking an experienced finance leader to serve as Director of Financial Operations for Physician Practices. This role will lead the day-to-day financial functions in accordance with Children's policies and be responsible for the financial performance and accuracy of financial reporting for assigned physician groups.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Financial Operations Management: The Director will function as the key financial resource to the assigned physician leadership team, reviewing, analyzing, and interpreting the results of operations while working with senior staff to achieve targeted results.
  • Operational Budgeting: The Director will coordinate the division annual budget process, providing direction on how to utilize tools and set budgets, and reviewing and approving the initial budget submission for the facility.
  • Capital Budgeting: The Director will work within established process and guidelines to achieve division-specific targets, including reviewing all non-threshold and threshold requests and conducting meetings as necessary to identify items to budget.
  • Business Planning: The Director will coordinate the development of financial pro formas, financial feasibility studies, and business plans with department directors, providing input, guidance, and validation.
  • Operations: The Director will communicate with physician and clinical leadership regarding the status of current operations and status of meeting goals, determining how to prevent or sustain the financial impact of key operational changes.
Requirements:
  • At least seven years of experience providing broad financial leadership in a progressive healthcare setting.
  • Experience and technical competence in healthcare financial management, with experience in revenue cycle, regulatory compliance, budgeting, reimbursement, patient accounts, and managed care.
  • Five or more years of experience providing financial support to a physician enterprise is strongly preferred.
  • Academic healthcare experience with significant teaching and research is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with significant fundraising activities, donor restricted funds, and quasi endowments is also preferred.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business, or related field is required.
  • Master's degree in business administration is preferred.
  • CPA, CPAM, or FHFMA certification is strongly preferred.
