Job Overview

Position Summary:

The position entails overseeing a design team, managing projects comprehensively, and ensuring that all outputs align with client and organizational standards. A significant aspect of this role includes a focus on business development, leveraging an existing client portfolio.

Core Responsibilities:

1. Design and Client Engagement:

Strategize and implement designs that surpass client expectations.

Engage directly with clients and facilitate the approval process with relevant agencies.

2. Business Development:

Discover new project opportunities and actively seek leads.

Bring an established client base to the organization.

3. Administrative and Financial Oversight:

Manage invoicing, budget tracking, proposals, change orders, and team timecard approvals.

4. Project Oversight:

Create timelines and oversee the workflow of the design team.

Supervise the development of plans, reports, cost estimates, and other deliverables for clients.

Ensure quality of design, cost efficiency, and adherence to standards.

Collaborate with external consultants and internal departments.

Conduct site inspections during construction to ensure compliance with plans and address any issues.

5. Team Leadership:

Guide and mentor a team of 1-5 professionals.

Conduct performance reviews, provide training, and manage team effectiveness.

6. Client and Agency Collaboration:

Represent the organization in discussions with clients and agencies.

Manage plan processing for approvals and resolve design challenges with agencies.

Qualifications:

Education & Experience:

A Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline with a minimum of 10 years of design experience.

At least 3 years of experience in team leadership and project management.

EIT certification is required, with the PE license or the ability to obtain it within two years.

Skills:

Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, communication, and team-building abilities.

Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or Civil 3D is preferred.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment:

Physical Requirements:

Regularly required to sit and use hands; occasional standing, walking, and verbal communication.

Must occasionally lift/move up to 10 pounds.

Work Environment:

Generally quiet with occasional exposure to outdoor weather conditions.
