The Practical Nursing Specialist plays a crucial role within the Community Living Program team, dedicated to providing our adult residents with developmental disabilities the chance to lead fulfilling lives and enhance their independence.

The Practical Nursing Specialist is involved in assessing and implementing healthcare for the individuals we serve. This role includes training direct care staff on medical protocols to ensure the highest standards of care.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure accurate medication administration and maintain proper documentation.
  • Carry out prescribed medical procedures, including colostomy checks and changes.
  • Support Registered Nurses during medical emergencies and assist with meal preparation as needed.
  • Review medical records to confirm that all necessary documentation is up-to-date.
  • Complete required documentation for families and residences for follow-up.
  • Assist individuals with toileting as necessary.
  • Provide nursing support at other ACLD program locations as required.

Qualifications:
  • Associate's Degree preferred.
  • Must be certified and currently registered as a Licensed Practical Nurse by the New York Department of Education.
  • CPR (Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation) certification is required and must be maintained.

Schedule:

Sun - Thurs 3 PM - 11 PM, 40 Hours per week.
