Job Summary

The Grossmont Union High School District is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated individual to fill the role of Bus Attendant. As a key member of our transportation team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our students during transportation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee students and/or special education students over scheduled routes and/or to/from special excursions
  • Enforce rules, regulations, and laws to maintain safety during transport
  • Ensure the safety of special education students during transport, loading and unloading from buses
  • Administer first aid for minor injuries
  • Assess potential emergency situations and take appropriate action to protect the well-being of passengers
  • Assist Bus Driver in cleaning/sanitizing the interior of buses
  • Assist Bus Driver in maintaining order and discipline on the bus
  • Conduct emergency evacuation drills
  • Provide first aid to students, including EPI-Pen administration
  • Assist special education students with special needs during transport, safe ingress and egress from buses
  • Implement intervention strategies and perform direct behavior management services
  • Instruct special education students and other passengers on rules and regulations
  • Lift students and/or equipment as necessary
  • Monitor student behavior to prevent distractions and ensure safety
  • Prepare written materials, such as incident reports and student counts
  • Report observations and incidents to appropriate personnel
  • Secure students and/or equipment to ensure safety
Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Job-related experience desired
  • CPR/First Aid Certificate
  • Criminal Justice Fingerprint/Background Clearance
  • TB Clearance
Working Environment

The Bus Attendant will work in a fast-paced transportation environment, requiring the ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively. The position involves frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, as well as climbing and balancing. The Bus Attendant will be required to work in varying atmospheric conditions and may be exposed to hazardous situations.
