Job Title: School Bus Driver

San Marcos Unified School District is seeking a reliable and safety-conscious School Bus Driver to transport students over scheduled routes and/or special excursions. The ideal candidate will have a valid Class Driver's License, School Bus Driver's Certificate, and First Aid Certificate. The successful candidate will also possess excellent communication skills, the ability to work independently, and a strong commitment to student safety.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Transport students over scheduled routes and/or special excursions
  • Ensure the safety of students during transport, loading, and unloading from buses
  • Assess potential emergency situations and take appropriate action to protect the well-being of passengers
  • Attend training sessions to maintain skills and meet requirements for school bus certification
  • Clean the interior of assigned vehicles to maintain appearance, sanitation, and safety
  • Direct students regarding safety and enforce rules, regulations, and laws
  • Inspect assigned vehicles to ensure they are in safe operating condition
  • Prepare documentation to provide written support and convey information
Requirements:
  • Valid Class Driver's License and evidence of insurability
  • School Bus Driver's Certificate
  • First Aid Certificate (or passing of the California Highway Patrol examination including first aid)
  • Valid Department of Motor Vehicles Medical Certificate
  • FMCSA Clearinghouse Registration Notice to Applicants

Please note that San Marcos Unified School District accepts online applications through EdJoin only. Bus Drivers are scheduled for 183 days per year, with hours to be determined (minimum of 6.5 hours per day). Employees new to the District are allowed salary schedule placement credit for up to two years of previous experience with a maximum salary schedule entry placement for step three.
