Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Human Resource Technician 3 to join our team at the State of Alaska. As a key member of our Payroll Services team, you will be responsible for supervising payroll staff, developing and delivering technical payroll training, and performing advanced technical work completing, processing, and auditing personnel and payroll documents.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise Payroll Services staff and provide guidance and support as needed.
  • Develop and deliver technical payroll training to ensure staff have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties effectively.
  • Perform advanced technical work completing, processing, and auditing personnel and payroll documents, including payroll processing, benefits administration, and personnel record-keeping.
  • Collaborate with other departments and teams to ensure seamless communication and coordination of payroll and HR-related activities.
  • Stay up-to-date with changing laws, regulations, and policies affecting payroll and HR practices.
Requirements
  • Considerable knowledge of personnel and payroll processes, procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to interpret and explain policies and procedures, rules, statutes, and regulations to a wide variety of people, orally and in writing.
  • Ability to adapt quickly and thrive under pressure.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in a payroll or HR-related role, preferably in a government or public sector setting.
  • Knowledge of payroll and HR software and systems, including timekeeping, benefits administration, and personnel record-keeping.
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
