**A Day in the Life:**

The Respiratory Therapist at the Kosair for Kids Complex Care will provide specialized care for residents with breathing or cardiopulmonary disorders under the direction of Respiratory Leadership. The therapist will engage in care treatments and diagnostic procedures to improve residents' quality of life.

**Responsibilities:**
  • Provide effective daily communication and maintain professionalism in all interactions
  • Adhere to Home of the Innocents standards and procedures
  • Coordinate care with interdisciplinary departments, as needed
  • Teach and coach residents, families, students/medical residents as needed
  • Participate in Pulmonary Rounds as needed
  • Administer pharmacological drugs via compressed gas daily
  • Conduct pulmonary toilet procedures daily
  • Participate in ventilator and blood gas management
  • Maintain competency in medical emergencies as needed
  • Enhance residents' quality of life daily.
  • Maintain relevant certifications and education as needed
  • Perform other assigned tasks as needed
**Required Skills and Qualifications:**
  • Current, unencumbered Respiratory Therapist license/certification in Kentucky
  • National Board of Respiratory Care certification or registration for Cardiopulmonary Services
  • Proficiency in administering routine and special treatments
  • Knowledge of personal hygiene, health, and safety precautions
  • Active Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Familiarity with infection control procedures
  • Fluency in English (reading, writing, speaking, and understanding)
  • Ability to document and communicate effectively
  • Basic computer proficiency
  • Strong interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with residents and facility staff
