Position Overview: The Internal Auditor plays a crucial role in executing operational, financial, and compliance assessments across various departments within the organization. This position is tasked with evaluating the accuracy, efficiency, and effectiveness of operations while identifying areas for improvement in processes, policies, and procedures. Audits are conducted in alignment with established departmental protocols.

Key Responsibilities:

Audit Management

  • Engages in internal audit projects by reviewing engagement letters, assessing work programs for clarity in objectives, scope, purpose, resource allocation, and deliverables, and preparing necessary documentation for approval.
  • Conducts research to formulate audit objectives, scopes, timelines, and proposal requirements; drafts requests for proposals and presentation materials.
  • Coordinates audit and consulting efforts with external auditors and internal stakeholders through effective project management.

Internal Audit and Review Framework

  • Aids in the formulation of the annual Risk Assessment and Audit Plan through research, stakeholder surveys, and management of audit software and related documentation.
  • Assists in developing the annual audit budget by analyzing historical budget usage and forecasting future needs.
  • Provides support to the Audit Executive in creating and maintaining policies, procedures, templates, and manuals for Internal Audit operations.

Audit Implementation

  • Conducts audits and reviews in accordance with Internal Audit standards and documentation protocols.
  • Performs a range of internal audit engagements as outlined in the annual audit plan to evaluate the adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls, policies, and procedures in safeguarding the organization's assets and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.

Communication, Monitoring, and Reporting

  • Assists the Audit Executive in preparing updates and summaries of audit activities for the Audit Committee and Management.
  • Analyzes deficiencies noted in audit reports and recommends corrective actions and timelines for resolution.
  • Acts as a liaison between external examiners and internal personnel, facilitating communication and information exchange.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related business discipline.
  • Level I: At least 1 year of internal auditing experience with a financial institution or public accounting firm preferred, or 2 years of related experience. Level II: At least 3 years of internal auditing experience with a financial institution or public accounting firm preferred, or 5 years of related experience.
  • Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) designation preferred.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Proficient understanding of internal auditing, internal controls, risk management, and regulatory compliance.
  • Familiarity with Adobe, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook for document creation and management.
  • Ability to learn and apply industry-specific rules, audit standards, and legal requirements.
  • Capability to analyze factual data and make logical decisions.
  • Strong teamwork skills and the ability to work independently on projects.
  • Attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Sound judgment and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills for interaction with peers, supervisors, and the Board of Directors.
