About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Engineer - Applied Mechanics to join our team at Raytheon Technologies. As a key member of our Integrated Product Team, you will work closely with other disciplines to deliver cutting-edge avionics systems for our customers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Resolve complex thermal problems, ensuring a balanced system solution and delivering engineering excellence.
  • Review and approve product definition data, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Design and develop development hardware that meets objectives and facilitates timely delivery.
  • Process engineering changes within schedule, meeting performance metrics and ensuring minimal disruption.
  • Utilize standard work and CORE/ACE tools to continuously improve the design process.
  • Mentor junior engineers in process-related and technical subjects.
  • Demonstrate problem-solving skills and a deep understanding of engineering principles.
  • Direct experience with thermal analysis and electronic packaging is essential.
  • Understanding of hardware and manufacturing methods is required.
  • Proficiency with thermal analysis tools is necessary.
  • Understanding of thermodynamics and heat transfer, and its application in electronics cooling, is highly desirable.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with attention to detail, deadlines, and reporting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
Requirements
  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM), unless prohibited by local laws/regulations, and a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with thermodynamics and heat transfer, and its application in electronics cooling.
  • Experience with thermal analysis tools.
  • Experience with environmental testing equipment, procedures, and qualification activities (e.g., RTCA DO-160 or MIL-STD-810G).
  • Experience with the design and manufacturing processes of CCAs, metal housings, and sheet metal.
  • Experience with thermal management for electromechanical designs.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government-issued security clearance.
