Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Per Diem Hemodialysis Technician to join our team at Yale New Haven Health. As a Hemodialysis Technician, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and ensuring the smooth operation of our dialysis unit.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor and maintain equipment to ensure a safe and effective dialysis environment.
  • Prepare and organize materials for patient treatments, taking into account special needs and requirements.
  • Assist in room preparation and setup prior to dialysis treatments.
  • Check and maintain department equipment and supplies, ensuring they are in good working order.
  • Set up and monitor dialysis machines and systems, adhering to manufacturer specifications and organizational policies.
  • Maintain inventory and records related to dialysis unit quality assurance monitoring.
  • Demonstrate clinical and technical skills according to established standards of practice.
  • Collect patient data, monitor vital signs, and document patient status.
  • Under the direction of the RN, instruct patients on care of fistula and open wounds, and reinforce treatment care.
  • Respond to dialysis-related emergencies and communicate effectively with the healthcare team.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Certification or qualified to be certified as a dialysis patient care technician.
  • Two years of dialysis experience preferred.
  • Nephrology Nursing Certification Commission (NNCC) certification or qualified to be certified.
