East Carolina University is seeking a pool of individuals to serve as University Community School Substitute Teachers in elementary classrooms within the East Carolina University Community School on an as-needed basis.
Job Summary:The ECU Community School is housed within South Greenville Elementary School. Substitute teachers at the ECU Community School report to the ECU Community School Principal.
Responsibilities:- Facilitate the instructional plans of the classroom teacher and school to ensure that procedures and schedules are implemented to carry out the total community school program.
- Implement the planned innovative strategies and integration of a variety of support services for students.
- Implement behavioral and social-emotional strategies to foster a positive climate for learning.
- Receive visitors within the assigned classroom for the purpose of instruction, assistance, research, and observation.
- Bachelor's degree in elementary education (K-6); excellent oral and written communication skills; and evidence of skill in working with at-risk student populations.
- Qualifying degrees must be conferred and received from appropriately accredited institutions.
- Bachelor's degree with a current or past professional North Carolina teaching license in elementary education (K-6) preferred.
- Preference will be given to candidates with teaching experience with diverse student groups.
