Job Summary

Shields Health Solutions LLC is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Clinical Pharmacist to join our team in a key leadership role. As a Clinical Pharmacist - Ambulatory Care Specialist, you will play a critical part in advancing quality pharmacotherapy care and ensuring the provision of safe, efficacious, and cost-effective drug therapy for all Specialty patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Medication Therapy Management: Review and monitor medication regimens, advise clinicians on evidence-based therapy, and document interventions.
  • Prior Authorization Reviews: Review patients' clinical chart information and determine the appropriateness of requested treatment.
  • Medication Dispensing and Preparation: Review and interpret physician orders, detect therapeutic incompatibilities, and prepare and dispense medications.
  • Clinical Protocol Development: Develop and refine disease and drug-specific clinical protocols to maximize patient adherence and promote evidence-based cost-effective care.
  • Adherence Monitoring: Monitor ongoing patient adherence across all sites and disease categories, with a focus on oncology and other specialty-specific disease states.
  • EMR Evaluation: Evaluate electronic medical records to review drug and disease interactions, medication selection, labs/vitals, allergies, RX orders/renewals, and direct MD communication.
  • Therapy Evaluation and Recommendations: Recommend alternative therapeutic drug regimens and disease-specific treatments according to guidelines, monitor and evaluate therapies for side effects or other medication-related issues, and recommend drug therapy changes to prescribers as appropriate.
  • Clinical Criteria Development: Develop clinical criteria and medical policies for the review of medications, ensuring regulatory compliance with CMS and the NJ Division of Consumer Affairs, and clinical compliance with FDA guidance, clinical guidelines, and evidence-based literature.
  • Operational Management: Manage, organize, and update relevant data using database applications, apply observations and recommendations to operational issues, increased productivity, quality, and customer-service standards, identify trends, resolve problems, recommend improvements, and implement change.
Requirements
  • Education and Licensure: Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) and licensed Pharmacist in the state of New Jersey.
  • Experience: 1+ years' experience as a clinical pharmacy manager, preferred 5+ years' experience, with completion of a PGY2 residency specializing in oncology, organ transplant, or infectious diseases preferred.
  • Skills: Ability to analyze information, exercise good judgment, possess strong verbal communication skills, have deep knowledge of pharmacology developments and FDA health regulations, manage processes, exhibit strong technical and clinical skills, maintain constant focus on legal compliance, and be highly productive with a focus on quality and details.
