About the Job

We are seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Lighting Groundperson to join our team at Utility Lines Construction Services, LLC. As a Lighting Groundperson, you will play a critical role in the installation and maintenance of streetlights and related equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist linepersons from the ground by providing materials and maintaining a safe work area.
  • Excavate to assist in the installation of structures or cable as required by contract specifications.
  • Communicate with public and private property owners to inform them of work to be performed.
  • Work in traffic and may require flagging certification.
  • Operate and maintain various tools and equipment, including bucket trucks, digger derrick trucks, and concrete saws.
  • Perform other duties as required or requested by supervisors.
Requirements
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Possess knowledge of heavy equipment.
  • Ability to follow directions, work safely and productively, problem-solve, and identify and operate required tools and equipment.
Physical Demands
  • Rarely: Sitting, crawling, and climbing poles.
  • Occasionally: Stooping, kneeling, squatting, body twisting, sense of touch, range of motion, pushing, climbing ladders, climbing stairs, balancing, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Frequently: Walking, manual dexterity, seeing distant, climbing on and off trucks, gripping, lifting over 10 pounds up to 50 pounds, reaching, depth perception, lifting, carrying, and pulling.
  • Continuously: Standing, speaking clearly, seeing, hearing-speech range, color vision, lifting up to 10 pounds.
Work Environment

Due to the inherently dangerous nature of the industry, employees must have sufficient eyesight to judge distance and coordination of equipment and tools, be able to maintain attention and concentration for extended periods, withstand exposure to all kinds of weather, wear personal protective equipment as necessary, and perform job duties throughout a standard 8- or 10-hour day.

The ideal candidate will be able to identify job site hazards, exhibit and carry out cognitive problem-solving skills, read, comprehend, and visualize job builds and prints, and work near or around energized, hazardous parts and equipment.
