Principal Attorney

The New York Power Authority (NYPA) is seeking a Principal Attorney to enhance their Law Department. In this pivotal role, you will provide essential legal guidance and support to various operational sectors within NYPA.

  • Possess a minimum of 10 years of legal practice with an emphasis on intricate transactional issues
  • Oversee Contracts and Licensing for client-oriented initiatives and strategic partnerships
  • Ensure adherence to applicable laws and regulations governing NYPA
  • Work collaboratively with internal teams to optimize transaction outcomes
  • Lead initiatives aimed at refining transactional workflows
  • Deliver legal assessments to senior management for informed decision-making

Key Responsibilities:

  • Offer legal counsel on complex issues and transactions
  • Guide, mentor, and evaluate the work of junior attorneys
  • Supervise legal support personnel and manage disputes and litigation
  • Conduct presentations for employees across all organizational levels
  • Oversee external legal counsel and manage billing practices

Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor Degree with admission to practice in New York State and Federal courts
  • Expertise in energy, litigation, commercial and finance, or employment law
  • Capacity to independently lead multifaceted complex matters
  • Proven leadership capabilities

Compensation:

The salary range for this role is $153,640-$192,050, commensurate with relevant experience and qualifications.
