Senior Propulsion Engineer

About the Role
This Senior Engineer position is located in Tucson, Arizona, and is part of the Energetics and Propulsion Department in the Mechanical Engineering Directorate at Raytheon.
Key Responsibilities
- Apply advanced technologies, scientific principles, and theories to the systems integration of propulsion, thrusters, controllers, software, mechanical, and electrical interfaces for integration into missile systems and space vehicles.
- Work on development and production programs across Raytheon Product Lines, reviewing manufacturing processes and problem resolution, and collaborating with subcontractors on solid rocket motor propulsion systems.
- Manage propulsion system development projects and propulsion subcontracts, reviewing and disposing of subcontract data and change requests, and overseeing supplier operations.
- Develop and deliver technical presentations to management and government agencies, frequently interfacing with customers to identify user needs.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) or related field.
- Five years of experience in propulsion technology and its application to solid propulsion systems, or three years with an advanced degree and related experience.
- Active and transferable U.S. government-issued security clearance is required prior to start date, with U.S. citizenship required for a security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Math, or related science degree.
- Five plus years of directly related experience in propulsive technology and its application to solid or liquid, and/or mono propellant propulsion systems.
- Systems knowledge to assure full development of propulsion requirements and dissemination and flow down to subcomponent levels.
- Project engineering skills and experience using Earned Value Management System.
- Demonstrated success as a proposal/cost account manager as well as project/team leader.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and lead collaborative efforts with other technical disciplines, including structural, thermal, aerodynamics, and low observables.
- Willingness to travel, including international, to provide supplier support.
- Supplier collaboration experience and oversight generating specifications and statements of work (SOW).
- Active Secret or Top Secret Clearance (Department of Defense).
