Leveraging expertise in clinical operations, the analyst investigates and assesses various solutions to deliver high-quality, efficient tools for end users, while ensuring the upkeep and support of designated application software.
Key Responsibilities and Essential Functions
- Exhibits accountability in completing assigned tasks; communicates project challenges and successes to the project manager; ensures deliverables align with project specifications and adhere to departmental standards for application configuration and development.
- Conducts thorough analysis and documentation of current and anticipated needs and workflows through interviews and data collection related to regulatory standards, operational protocols, and institutional policies.
- Engages in the planning, development, implementation, maintenance, support, and evaluation of clinical or business application systems as designated. Responsibilities may encompass system design, documentation of design choices, workflow redesign, data collection, database creation, testing, and troubleshooting.
- Establishes strong relationships with nursing and clinical teams.
- Actively participates in team and project meetings; collaborates effectively with team members on assignments; demonstrates the ability to work independently on certain tasks while taking direction when necessary.
- Under supervision, designs, documents, constructs, and modifies complex critical applications to fulfill organizational needs; shows proficiency in tools such as process flow documentation and basic project reporting.
- Under supervision, researches stakeholder requests for enhancements utilizing various resources, including vendor application materials.
- Collaborates with fellow analysts to understand the integration of all clinical and business applications.
- Gains insight into various healthcare environments for patient care, the roles within those settings, and the workflows that facilitate patient care.
- Develops and maintains proficiency in the assigned application or technical domain; comprehends the impact of applications within clinical departments and available resources.
- Stays informed on current trends and issues in healthcare, nursing practices, healthcare informatics, and relevant national and state standards and regulations.
- Demonstrates excellent customer service skills and develops competency in mentoring new analysts.
- Acquires knowledge of project management methodologies, including planning, scope definition/documentation, timeline creation, and issue management; familiarizes with project management tools such as Eclipse and SharePoint.
- Assists Application Analysts in user and system support, including investigation, troubleshooting, testing, and resolution of reported issues.
- Contributes to turnover documentation and presentations upon project completion, facilitating handoff to other analysts for ongoing support.
- Participates in an on-call rotation, responding to off-duty calls as needed.
- Gains understanding of testing principles, including various testing types and objectives; develops and executes test scripts based on future workflows and software updates; maintains test scripts as workflows evolve.
- Assists in identifying necessary test scripts, patient involvement, and resource allocation during testing planning.
- Collaborates with Trainers to review future workflow documentation for curriculum development; validates training materials and may assist as a proctor during training sessions.
- Contributes to the development of communication materials regarding optimizations by producing visual aids and explanations of new features or workflows.
- Must possess the professional, clinical, and/or technical competencies required for the assigned unit or department.

- Associate Degree in Nursing
- Two or more years of experience in a clinical role (Nursing or Ancillary) within a healthcare institution or clinic
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or a related clinical healthcare field.
- Current professional license or clinical certification in the relevant field.
- Certification or proficiency in the assigned Epic application or demonstrated knowledge of other assigned applications must be achieved within six months of employment.
- National certification such as CPHIMS from HIMSS.
