We are seeking an Electrical Engineer to join our team at HDR, where we build on each other's life experiences and perspectives to make great things possible every day. As an Electrical Engineer, you will be responsible for coordinating the work of the electrical design team on large institutional and industrial projects, establishing meetings and participating in reviews with governing agencies for code compliance, and conducting work sessions at project sites. You will also be responsible for reviewing electrical documents for areas of conflict with other disciplines, writing and editing electrical specifications, and selecting equipment, electrical systems, and devices. Additionally, you will coordinate with and assist affected disciplines with addenda, RFIs, CPRs, and change orders, and take responsibility to incorporate agreed-upon changes into project documents. Preferred qualifications include 4 years of design and construction experience, experience in identifying electrical hazards and implementing electrical safe work practices, and strong decision-making skills. Required qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with an Electrical emphasis, previous experience in electrical design of buildings, and a Professional Engineer (PE) license.   • Coordinate work of the electrical design team on large institutional/industrial projects through the schematic design development and contract document phase of a project.
  • Establish meetings and participate in reviews with various governing agencies for code compliance.
  • Coordinate workload to complete the document on schedule.
  • Conduct work sessions at the project site in conjunction with the Project Manager and other disciplines.
  • Review electrical documents for areas of conflict with all disciplines.
  • Write/edit electrical specifications and select equipment, electrical systems and devices.
  • Coordinate with and assist affected disciplines with addenda, RFIs, CPRs and change orders, and take responsibility to incorporate agreed-upon changes into the project documents.
  • Provide construction contract administration as needed.
  • Conduct QA/QC on the work of other Electrical Engineers, Electrical Coordinators or Technicians.
  • Perform other duties as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 4 years of (full-time equivalent) verifiable design and construction experience.
  • Perform field surveys for data collection of existing equipment and facilities.
  • Experience in identifying electrical hazards and implementing electrical safe work practices.
  • Complete time-critical project tasks to achieve project schedule milestones.
  • Coordinate with internal divisions and public agencies.
  • Coordinate and prioritize multiple long and short-term tasks simultaneously.
  • Strong decision-making skills.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Demonstrate strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience performing power distribution studies for load flow, short circuits, protective relay coordination, arc flash, harmonic, and ground analysis.
  • Experience with ETAP, running load study, arc flash study, etc.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with an Electrical emphasis.
  • Previous experience in electrical design of buildings (lighting/power/systems).
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Strong computer skills using AutoCAD and Microsoft Office, Revit, SKM, AGI and EasyPower.
