The primary responsibility of this role is to oversee the daily nursing operations within the facility during your assigned shift. This oversight must align with current federal, state, and local regulations, as well as the directives from the Director of Nursing Services, ensuring that we provide the highest quality of care and enhance the quality of life for our residents.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Direct and assess all resident care, implementing corrective measures as necessary.
  • Conduct daily rounds to monitor nursing care and report findings to the Director of Nursing Services.
  • Assist in analyzing incident reports to identify causes and recommend corrective actions.
  • Coordinate resident transportation between nursing and social services.
  • Oversee supply ordering for the nursing department in collaboration with the business office.
  • Prepare written and verbal reports for the Director of Nursing regarding departmental operations.
  • Help develop strategies for integrating nursing services with other resident care services.
  • Participate in facility inspections conducted by authorized agencies as requested.
  • Review and contribute to residents' discharge plans as needed.
  • Manage the admission, transfer, and discharge processes for residents.
  • Complete necessary incident reports and conduct assessments for residents involved in incidents.
  • Regularly review the 24-hour report to ensure accuracy and follow up on identified issues.
  • Verify census data on the 24-hour report before concluding your shift.
  • Engage in the Performance Improvement Committee alongside the Administrator and interdisciplinary team members.
  • Participate in various facility committees as appointed by the Director of Nursing.
  • Ensure readiness of rooms for new admissions.
  • Accompany physicians during rounds as required.
  • Visit residents daily to assess their physical and emotional well-being.
  • Provide direct nursing care as necessary.
  • Inspect nursing service areas daily to maintain cleanliness and safety.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of safe operational procedures for nursing equipment.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Education: Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred.

Experience: Minimum of two years in long-term care nursing, with supervisory experience preferred.

License: Must hold a Nursing degree from an accredited institution or be a graduate of an approved Registered Nurse program, along with CPR certification.


PHYSICAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to relate to and work with ill, disabled, elderly, and emotionally distressed individuals.
  • Must meet health requirements as outlined by facility policies, including a mental and physical examination.
  • Possess adequate sight and hearing, or use prosthetics to meet job requirements.
  • Capable of lifting a minimum of 50 pounds and moving it a distance of at least 50 feet.
  • May need to assist in evacuating residents during emergencies.
