The primary responsibility of this role is to oversee the daily nursing operations within the facility during your assigned shift. This oversight must comply with current federal, state, and local regulations, as well as directives from the Director of Nursing Services, ensuring the highest quality of care and quality of life for our residents.
KEY DUTIES:
- Direct, assess, and supervise all aspects of resident care while initiating corrective measures as necessary.
- Conduct daily rounds to monitor resident care and report findings to the Director of Nursing Services.
- Assist in the evaluation of incident reports to identify causes and implement necessary corrective actions.
- Coordinate resident transportation between nursing and social services.
- Oversee supply ordering processes between the nursing department and administrative office.
- Prepare written and verbal reports for the Director of Nursing regarding nursing department operations.
- Help develop strategies for integrating nursing services with other resident care services.
- Participate in facility inspections conducted by authorized governmental bodies as requested.
- Review and contribute to residents' discharge plans as needed.
- Manage the admission, transfer, and discharge processes for residents.
- Complete necessary incident reports and conduct assessments for residents involved in incidents requiring nursing intervention.
- Regularly review the 24-hour report to ensure accuracy and follow up on identified issues.
- Verify census data on the 24-hour report for accuracy before concluding your shift.
- Engage in the Performance Improvement Committee in collaboration with the Administrator and interdisciplinary team members.
- Participate in various facility committees as appointed by the Director of Nursing.
- Ensure readiness of rooms for new admissions.
- Accompany physicians during rounds as necessary.
- Visit residents daily to assess their physical and emotional well-being.
- Provide direct nursing care as required.
- Inspect nursing service areas daily to maintain cleanliness and safety standards.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of procedures for the safe operation of nursing equipment.
EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND AND EXPERIENCE:
Education: A Bachelor's degree in Nursing is preferred.
Experience: A minimum of two years in a long-term care nursing facility, with supervisory experience preferred.
Licensure: Must hold a Nursing degree from an accredited institution or be a graduate of an approved Registered Nurse program, along with CPR certification.
PHYSICAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to interact with ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally distressed, and at times, challenging individuals.
- Must meet health requirements set by facility policies, including mental and physical evaluations.
- Must possess adequate sight and hearing or utilize prosthetics to fulfill job requirements.
- Ability to lift, push, pull, or move a minimum of 50 pounds to a height of at least 5 feet and carry such weight a minimum distance of 50 feet.
- May be required to assist in evacuating residents during emergencies.
